OUR HISTORY
Victorian Old Town Association is a neighborhood association of the people who live in the official North Wheeling Historic Distric (NWHD) and nearby areas. Here is what Wikipedia says about NWHD.

North Wheeling Historic District is a national historic district located at Wheeling, Ohio County, West Virginia. The district encompasses 134 contributing buildings in a 2 1/2-block section of northern Wheeling, known as "Old Town". Most of the district consists of mid- to late-19th-century residential buildings. A number of popular architectural styles are represented, including Greek Revival, Italianate, and Late Victorian. Notable buildings include the Vigilant Engine House (c. 1891), William Goering House (1885), Alfred Paull House (1880s), Williams Duplex Tenement (1880–1884), George W. Eckhart House (1891–1892), Christian Hess House (1876), Edward Hazlett House (1893), Henry K. List House (1858). The Pollack Memorial Monument (1916) was for many years in the district but in 2015 was moved to Heritage Port.

NWHD was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988, with a boundary increase in 2008.

ABOUT
Victorian Old Town Association (VOTA) is one of the oldest neighborhood associations in Wheeling, which is fitting since it was the first addition to Downtown Wheeling, added around 1830. The goals of VOTA are to encourage a sense of pride in our community by holding monthly meetings, annual spring cleanups, a sidewalk sale, and other events. VOTA is also concerned with neighborhood safety, which is mostly concerned with the high volume of cars and trucks that traverse Main Street (WV Highway 2) every day. Wheeling Police are supportive in maintianing appropriate speeds.
VOTA is also concerned with every home in the area, sharing information about repairs, updates, sales and other conditions.
